Accent Magazine Fall/Winter 2024

As the Lead Graphic Designer for Accent, I transformed the visual identity of our lifestyle publication, curating compelling designs that resonate with our eclectic audience in Upstate New York. My role encompassed everything from conceptualizing layouts to crafting eye-catching cover designs, ensuring the issue not only captured attention but also told Mann’s Jewelers story and how we encapsulate Rochester, NY.

Key Contributions

  • Developed a cohesive visual language that aligned with Mann's Jewelers ethos, elevating our magazine’s aesthetic and enhancing reader engagement as well as boosting readability of long-form content so that it seems less cluttered but chic.

  • I oversaw the visual direction of the publication, ensuring that each layout, image, and design element aligns with Mann's Jewelers editorial vision. I worked closely with Nancy Mann, visually maintaining consistency in style, typography, and color. My goal was to create a cohesive, engaging visual experience that captivates readers and reflects the magazine’s identity, balancing creativity with brand consistency throughout the publication.

  • As the copywriter and editor, I was responsible for crafting and refining the magazine's written content for local and national advertisers, ensuring clarity, consistency, and engagement in every article. I collaborated with our writers to develop compelling stories, edited for grammar and style, and aligned the tone with the publication's voice. I also worked closely with the editorial team to fact-check and ensure accuracy, while making sure deadlines were met and content flowed seamlessly with the overall vision of the magazine.

  • In my role in brand development, I was responsible for refining and shaping Mann's identity, ensuring it resonated with target audiences and stood out in the market. I worked on creating a cohesive brand voice, visual style, and messaging across all platforms, from marketing materials to social media. My focus was on enforcing a strong, recognizable brand identity that connected emotionally with customers and reinforced MJ values.
